SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM "BECAS MAEC-AECI"
The Scholarship Program "Becas MAEC-AECI" is an annual scholarship program for foreign citizens aiming to study in Spain and spanish citizens aiming to study abroad.
"Becas MAEC-AECI" is a fundamental tool for the development of the spanish scientific and cultural cooperation with the rest of the world. It is a fundamental component of the spanish foreign relations and contributes to the development and the fight against poverty.

For whom and what for are the "Becas MAEC-AECI"?
For foreigners scholarships are offered:
for doing language and hispanic culture studies in Spain: programme I.A. for postgraduate studies of 1 renewable year and programme I.B. for summer courses lasting one month.
for Hispanists and Spanish Translators in Spain: programme I.C. lasting three months.
for postgraduate, doctorate and research studies in Spain: programmes II.A. (one year that can be extended to three) and II.B. (one year that can be extended to two).
for students of the International Studies course of the Diplomatic School Madrid: programme II.C. lasting nine months.
For spanish citizens similar scholarships are offered, preferably in the priority countries for the spanish cooperation and foreign politics, aiming to make training of experts in these countries and their languages easier.
Who can apply for these scholarships?
Foreign and spanish citizens with university degree (in some programmes also students in their last year).
Foreign diplomatics aiming to do training courses in the spanish Diplomatic School.
Foreign scientists and researchers in general presenting projects to be lead in university or research centres in Spain.
Foreign Hispanists and professionals of the Spanish language.
Spanish citizens aiming to study abroad.
Those people being scholarship holders of AECI in previous callings, that need to renew their scholarships for finishing their studies.
Some basic requirements:
They should be people of age with a good knowledge of the spanish language.
Those interested must not be over 35 years of age in the year 2006.
As essential condition, the pre-admission in the spanish centre of studies is requested for all foreign applicants.
The linking of the project with the targets of Spanish Cooperation and its articulation with Spanish cooperation when going back to the country of origin is specially valuable.

CALLING OF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME "BECAS MAEC-AECI" FOR SUMMER 2007 AND ACADEMIC YEAR 2007-2008 FOR FOREIGN AND SPANISH CITIZENS
ABAME ASSOCIATION: Former Scholars of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) – Spanish Agency for International (AECI) Association.
ABAME is established to maintain the relation and promote activities among those people who have been granted a scholarship or aid MAE-AECI.
Its objectives are the following:
Promote the contact among applicants, scholars and former scholars.
Facilitate the contact and professional collaboration between these scholars and the Spanish policy on development aid and cultural and scientific cooperation.
Encourage the continuation of the relation that the scholars have or had with Spain.
Contribute to assure the continuation of these cultural, educational and scientific cooperation programs.
Organize cultural, professional and scientific activities of interest for the members.
Promote and develop updating professional activities to improve the comprehensive formation of its members.
Collaborate with similar associations.
Others considered as means to help achieve the objectives above.
