SPANISH LANGUAGE ASSISTANT TEACHERS –LECTORADOS- IN HANOI AND HO CHI MINH CITY 2005-2006 (only for Spanish citizens and foreign universities)

Over the last 30 years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC) collaborates with different foreign universities to teach the Spanish language at high education level and to spread the Spanish culture in that field through its Lectorados MAEC-AECI Program.

At present, the AECI General Directorate of Cultural and Scientific Relations assign almost 200 Lectorados to universities all around the world, especially to universities of those countries classified as recipients of Official Development Aid by the OCDE and those universities where Spain presents cultural cooperation programs. This Lectorados Program has a periodical announcement with complete online proceedings.

The Lectorados MAEC-AECI Program has been warmly welcomed in the university arena, both in Spain and abroad, providing young teachers-lectores- with proficient academic profile to the participant universities. The Spanish Language Assistant Teachers could eventually also carry out a postgraduate program in the university.

Objectives:

To initiate and consolidate spanish language and culture in Departments of foreign Universities where these studies were recently introduced.

To promote hispanic studies at universities, providing the required expert assestment by the foreign University in its curricular design.

To bring up to date spanish culture at the University and in other foreign institutions related with Hispanicism.

To train future spanish specialists in the different foreign languages and professionals in teaching of spanish as foreign language

To support Spanish Embassies in the development of cultural action abroad

Required profile:

Young Graduates in Hispanic Philology, in other Philologies, in Linguistic, in Theory of Literature or in Translation and Interpretation. Training in Teaching of Spanish as Foreign Language, knowledge of the country's language (or the communication language) and teaching experience are required

Young Doctors in the mentioned disciplines, that can find in the assigned University possibilities of extending their studies

Young professionals of recent qualification in the teaching of spanish as foreign language

In Vietnam the Language Assistant Program MAEC-AECI started in 2002. At present, there are three Spanish Language Assistant Teachers in Vietnam, in the following universities:

University of Foreign Languages (Hanoi)

University of Social Sciences-Pedagogic University (Ho Chi Minh City)

University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City)
